Pub chat ammo - random 2016 facts and most memorable moments of the year.

So you'll have something to natter about in the pub this Christmas other than how much you love 'A Fairytale of New York', here are our 7 ‘mosts’ that interested us in 2016...

1. Most streamed song

One Dance - Drake ft. Wizkid & Kyla - I mean, obviously. We certainly couldn’t get away from that song here in the UK, what with it being number 1 for 15 consecutive weeks…

People also loved the song ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza’ by Mike Posner, which came a close second on the most streamed list of 2016 - we won’t ask.

2. Most searched term on Google

Powerball - an absolute corker of a year for lottery winners; the Powerball reached $1.5 billion which is crazy money. Of course a certain someone 'Trumped' the rest when it came to top searched people...

3. Most used password

Password - yes that’s right, in a world where ovens have webcams, wearable headbands can measure human emotions and there are self-driving bloody cars, the majority of us can’t think creatively enough to choose a password that isn’t the word password itself.

It’s like calling your baby, Baby. Shameful.

4. Most watched YouTube video

This Is What You Came For - (Official Video) Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna

What can we say? Guess a lot of people wanted to see Bad Gal RiRi show off her best moves wearing a fairly unflattering sparkly rag. Whatever floats your boat.

 5. Most retweeted tweet

Bit of a random one… a YouTuber from Madrid got the most retweets on his simple lemonade translation tweet - Limonada - reaching 1,389,234 retweets.

We can’t comment on that one… don’t think you’re missing a trick as we don’t get it either.

One that may be a bit more plausible, though is Harry Styles’ tweet with Taylor Swift’s song lyrics “I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22."

We’re still not sure what the status quo is with those two... awkward, or no?

6. Most downloaded app

Snapchat - popular with the younger generations, of course. But if it’s the most downloaded app of 2016, it’s probably got a fair few of the older ones hooked - who doesn’t want to be ‘down with the kids’ and looking like a dog… dw it’s not what you think…

7. Most popular baby name

No, it’s not Baby. Topping the list of most popular boys names is biblical stylie, ‘Ezra’. And not quite as pretentious, it’s ‘Olivia’, for a girl.

Round up

All in all, 2016 was a funny one, we lost Bowie, we gained Trump and Brexit happened.

Guess all we can say is here’s to 2017 and a new chapter of living our best life...
